Vote Switching in Multiparty Presidential Systems: Evidence from the Argentine Chamber of Deputies was authored by Paula Clerici and Alejandro Bonvecchi. It was published by Wiley in LSQ in 2022.

Vote switching by legislators occurs more frequently during competitive elections in multiparty systems like Argentina. Unlike two-party systems, this behavior increases with electoral competitiveness. We examine vote changes between committee reports and roll-call votes in the Argentine Chamber of Deputies to test these hypotheses. Our findings show that competitive elections drive higher rates of legislative vote switching. Additionally, we find that switchers are more likely when competing principals (party leaders) have conflicting interests.
