New research challenges conventional wisdom about local government motives regarding federal immigration partnerships.

Beyond Ideology: A closer look at county deportations reveals financial factors outweigh political beliefs. Conservative counties aren't producing more removals than liberal ones, contrary to expectations.

* Research Design & Data: Analyzed county deportation rates using zero-inflated negative binomial regression on Secure Communities program participation data (N=XXX).

* Key Variables & Findings: Counties with larger policing budgets showed higher cooperation levels regardless of ideology. Financial resources and federal incentives were strong predictors.

This study breaks new ground by demonstrating that policy implementation through federal-local partnerships is primarily driven by fiscal realities rather than political leanings, offering crucial insights into the mechanics of immigration enforcement.
