
Americans hold negative views toward Chinese investment even more so than foreign firms generally. This gap widens when facing trade-related job losses locally. Survey experiments reveal nationalists show less enthusiasm for all FDI types under such conditions, narrowing the distinction between nationalist and non-nationalist attitudes.
