What did the Supreme Court hold in United States v. Butler?
The Supreme Court found the Agricultural Adjustment Act unconstitutional because it attempted to regulate and control agricultural production, an area reserved to the states. Even though Congress has the power to tax and appropriate funds, in this case those activities were ''but means to an unconstitutional end,'' and were therefore in violation of powers reserved by the states.
