Georgia is one of fewer than 10 states that require majority vote in primary and general elections. In Georgia, if no candidate receives more than 50% vote share, the two top-polling candidates compete in a run-off election. In other states, the candidate with the most votes wins (even if the winner receives less than 50% of votes).
